Artist's Description
One of my favorite trees, which I’ve photographed many times. These beauties can live to be hundreds of years old. Again close to our cabin. This is my best exposure and I’m thrilled to have it. Later in the season a “wood poacher”, a person cutting these ancient trees to sell the wood to motels for their “fireplace suits” because they “smell so good while burning” [but provide almost no heat] lopped off several limbs. At least the tree itself survived but doesn’t look this way now. These “people” really don’t want to meet up with me on site – Bear Spray works wonders!!!
