Description
This is located a few miles west of Gardner, CO. While I was photographing this series a van pulled up and the driver asked me if I knew anything about this location. I had to admit that I'd passed it several times but knew nothing about it other than what I could see. He said that in 1880 it was the start of the town of Archuleta but I have not been able to verify that. It was abandoned around 1920 but reoccupied in the mid-1960s by a Hippy Comune for about 15 years. They then moved over into the San Luis Valley of Southern Colorado.
